Elijah was great and was able to explain so much and differentiate between the most crucial info to know as a beginner. He used examples of shots to describe what changes should be made on the camera to get the ultimate photo. And he was just friendly and kind!

Given that this was my first night photography experience, I was pretty pleased with the opportunity and results of the night shooting. I thought that I was ready for the experience by reading up in advance, but unfortunately, my first shots were dismal. Thankfully, the instructor, Elijah Marpet was well versed in the art of photography and the technology of DSLR and mirrorless cameras. Even though he was unfamiliar with the brand of the camera that I was using, he quickly adjusted the camera that I was using, and I was able to get some successful night images. Elijah was well prepared and provided timely emails as to the time, date and location of our class. He was high energy and knew the downtown area and where to get good images. All in all, Elijah did a great job, and I now look forward to my next night photography experience. Thank you for hiring such a fun and organized instructor.

From the very start, you can tell Elijah is passionate about both photography, and his desire to teach others. The course helped open my eyes about finding a story to shoot within a busy pedestrian area. It also helped breach my comfort zone of carrying my camera downtown, taking pictures within the public.

I have been to the Big Island many times but never ventured to Mauna Kea. While on Hawaii this February, we decided to go. Since we did not have a 4 wheel drive vehicle, we could not go beyond the visitor?s center at 9,200 ft. The moon was near full so star gazing wasn?t really an option. We stayed for sunset and climbed Pu?ukalepeamoa or Sunset Hill. It was an incredible moon and beautiful sunset!!

This was a fun photo to capture. I had to figure out the best way to capture both a long exposure of the fire and to freeze snowflakes mid flight. The temperature was around 12 degrees and I knew the time my model would be able to hold still would be short. Having done long exposure fire shots before I knew what my exposure should be. I started there - ISO50, f/10, and 2.5 seconds. I setup a flashpoint ad200 strobe behind her and angled up to back light the snow and hopefully freeze it midfligh

This October image of a chipmunk was taken on my Lanark County property, I prefer to photograph small wildlife such as this fellow in a natural rustic setting. I always take my images of wildlife big or small early morning or late afternoon?not only are creatures more active but the low angle of light provides better modeling of the subject. When I frame my subjects, I look for angles that provide uncluttered backgrounds, I leave negative space in the framing to allow for text to be added if nee

I recently acquired an older exotic lens, probably circa 1980s. It is a Nikon 400mm f2.8 AI-S which is a completely manual lens with no VR. I paired it with my Nikon D850 to see if I could learn to tackle manual focus. The hummingbirds are congregating on the front of my property where agave plants are flowering at this time of year. This makes it easier for me to practice. This Broad-Billed Hummingbird landed on a stick. The camera settings were 1/3200s at f2.8, auto ISO-320. This lens is old,

This is one of my favourite places in Tassie, the north west coast. Couta Rocks are in the distance, as is a blanket of stars and a full Moon. It is such a beautiful and powerful place up there, a different world, one filled with spectacular scenery and the power of nature, not to mention the cleanest air on Earth. I long to go back to this amazing place, to share more of it's splendour though my photographic eye.
