Elijah was great and very helpful with tips for beginners. Wandering around the downtown area and snapping pictures with feedback on adjusting shutter speeds, aperture and iso for different scenarios was both fun and informative.

Elijah was great and was able to explain so much and differentiate between the most crucial info to know as a beginner. He used examples of shots to describe what changes should be made on the camera to get the ultimate photo. And he was just friendly and kind!

Given that this was my first night photography experience, I was pretty pleased with the opportunity and results of the night shooting. I thought that I was ready for the experience by reading up in advance, but unfortunately, my first shots were dismal. Thankfully, the instructor, Elijah Marpet was well versed in the art of photography and the technology of DSLR and mirrorless cameras. Even though he was unfamiliar with the brand of the camera that I was using, he quickly adjusted the camera that I was using, and I was able to get some successful night images. Elijah was well prepared and provided timely emails as to the time, date and location of our class. He was high energy and knew the downtown area and where to get good images. All in all, Elijah did a great job, and I now look forward to my next night photography experience. Thank you for hiring such a fun and organized instructor.

From the very start, you can tell Elijah is passionate about both photography, and his desire to teach others. The course helped open my eyes about finding a story to shoot within a busy pedestrian area. It also helped breach my comfort zone of carrying my camera downtown, taking pictures within the public.

Drove 1.5 hours to shoot the Milky Way. Spent an hour wrestling my telescope into submission. Milky Way got blocked by clouds. Telescope shots ruined by star trails. Clouds said ?nope? and rolled in for good, blocking what I planned for the telescope. I packed up everything in defeat, sat in a chair for 15 minutes of self-pity?Sky: ?Wanna see something cool??Cue surprise northern lights!Moral of the story? I have been to the Big Island many times but never ventured to Mauna Kea. While on Hawaii this February, we decided to go. Since we did not have a 4 wheel drive vehicle, we could not go beyond the visitor?s center at 9,200 ft. The moon was near full so star gazing wasn?t really an option. We stayed for sunset and climbed Pu?ukalepeamoa or Sunset Hill. It was an incredible moon and beautiful sunset!!

Luckily, for me, I was using my Nikon Z7 which allowed me to switch from raw to jpeg giving me 9 frames per second on motor drive. I was shooting aperture preferred and used f/8 the resulting shutter speed was 1/1600 of a second. 9fps sounds fast but I only had 6 nicely composed shots out of 120 exposures.

It was one of those days that seemed perfect on paper: overcast skies that softened the light, barely a breath of wind, and a camera battery at full charge. But nature is nothing if not humbling. The deer remained ghost-like, unseen despite hours of quiet patience and soft steps.By late afternoon my hopes had dimmed so I began the slow walk back to the car. The path wound through
